Comet 42-42

 

C/2006 M4 SWAN on Nov 8th 2006 at 19.30 UT as seen in the 8.5" F/7 reflector. Comet was located high in the western evening sky between Hercules and Aquila at magnitude 6.5. Dia 5' D.C 6 and two tails forming a V - shaped appendage from the green coma. The gas tail was 25' long pointing to the NE while the dust tail was 10' long pointing N. The eastern trim of the dust tail was brighter than its western counterpart. Observation made with the bright moon (3 days after full) low in the NE.
