MOCK SUN

A yellow and white 'Mock Sun' or 'Sundog' in a murky sky before sunset on May 15th 2007 from the Maghera countryside near Drumlamph forest. There is also a very broad, diffuse, white parhelic circle extending to the right. This sundog was located 22 degrees to the west (right) of the Sun. A Sun pillar appeared later. That's my sister standing in the foreground. The short white streak at top is a contrail. The sky was covered in ice crystal rich cirrostratus clouds which produced the dog. The road is wet from a passing shower earlier.
