ORION, SIRIUS & CAR TRAILS |

Another image from the March 28th 2009 photo shoot. Maghera town lights, car trails, light pollution forming on the increasing moisture content in the atmosphere due to light mist/fog formation. Above is Orion 'The Hunter' with Sirius to the far L. Sirius is also known as 'Alpha Canis Majoris', or the 'Dog Star'. Below Sirius you can see a faint trail which was moving from R to L. That is a low and faint pass of the International Space Station (ISS). A faint Corona has also formed around Sirius. I accidentally fired the flash during this exposure which is why some of the grass can be seen below. I enjoy blending in foreground with the sky to get that human-sky connection and a sense of scale.
