LOUGH NEAGH VOLCANIC SUNSET & VENUS |

That's me sitting on a large rock on the NW shore of Lough Neagh at Ballyronan Marina, N. Ireland at dusk on December 27/28th 2008. I'm looking up at brilliant planet Venus. Below is an intense 'volcanic sunset' after-glow which remained visible in the sky for a long time. It was freezing cold at the time with a severe frost on the ground. I was doing a 'recce' or location hunting, in advance of a great planet conjunction which was due to take place on New Year's Eve.
