17P/ HOLMES

Wide field image (slightly cropped) of 17P/ Holmes on Nov 11/12th 2007 at 22.23 UT when located very high in the NE evening sky.You can see an orange patch of cloud to the bottom centre. I was lucky to get this image at all due to the cloud but I managed to grab this capture in the only good clear section I saw (I was talking on the phone at the same time also!). Holmes looks like a beautiful blue fuzzball similar to what I saw with the naked eye. I have marked the better known constellations and bright stars on the image. Taken from back garden. On the high resolution version of this image the camera picked up a faint ion tail. ISO1600 / 15 sec exposure.
