5 DAY OLD CRESCENT

The 5 day old waxing crescent Moon on Friday, March 23rd 2007 at 22.00 UT. The Moon with dark Earthshine was a lovely sight high in the western sky between the Hyades and Pleiades star clusters. This is a hand held shot of the Moon as seen through the 32mm 1.25" eyepiece on the 8.5" F/ dobsonian reflector. Took around 50 images during the session and this one was my favourite. Slightly over exposed on the portion opposite the terminator though. Light frost and very cold however it was a wonderful calm evening. Fuji S5600 5.1MP at ISO100 and shutter priority 20.
