''This is a two frame mosaic of the area from Janssen to Petavius taken last night. I have produced the final image in b/w as it tends to show more detail. The libration was superb in this area last night. The Mare Australe is at the bottom where you can see some of the dark floored craters. On the right edge look for the two dark lava markings inside the crater Humboldt. Just below Petavius you can see what is thought to be the longest valley on the Moon, the Snellius Rille. Look how the uplifted floor of Janssen is partly illuminated by the rising sun, and below that the craters Steinheil and Watt are almost circular due to the libration. The Rheita Valley cuts it's way through the centre of the image. My advice is to take a long look at this image, as the longer you look the more you see!!'' ... John C. Mc Connell, N. Ireland.
