Near my home in Maghera on October 28th 2007, all afternoon we had been battered by heavy rain and squally winds from an Atlantic cold front which had the potential to produce tornadoes. A friend called around to my home for a chat when suddenly the cold front passed through, the rain stopped, and a clearance opened in the west just before sunset, it was obvious that the front had convective cells within it's rear as we could see several low topped anvils in a row on which a beautiful mammatus display unfolded all lit by the setting sun, the scene was very dramatic with magnificent contrast between mammatus and the dark clouds under the anvils, the entire cloudscape was a mix between black, orange and gold which made for a fantastic and unexpected photo opportunity, read the report for more information. * All images are available for sale in the form of photo prints, canvas or digital files for licensing, if you are interested in a purchase simply drop me an email.
