This was close to my home in Maghera looking NE towards the back of a thunderstorm on September 16th 2011 which had just passed by at close range showing off with a torrential core and a rapidly rotating wall cloud and funnel which was trying it's best to put down a tornado. I ran up a steep hill through long grass and rain-soaked mud and fell twice with mud all over my arm, hand, jeans and even on the camera, then eventually I made it to the top almost out of breath. The view was worth it to see this scene from an elevated location looking over the houses below. The storm was moving away at this time to the NE so this is looking at it's flanking region where the updraught tower, flanking towers and precip can all be seen in dramatic high contrast light. The lowered section at image centre was rotating and at times brief scud vortices could be seen spinning from the base over the fields, read the report for more information. * All images are available for sale in the form of photo prints, canvas or digital files for licensing, if you are interested in a purchase simply drop me an email.
